The Oddacres Limousin Herd was established in 2001, our aim being to run a medium sized beef-type herd while maintaining milking
ability on our heavily stocked mixed beef and sheep
Yorkshire Dales farm. We have placed great emphasis on buying quality breeding females
from top herds in both France and the UK.
Following several trips to France, we were consistently impressed by the famous Champerval Herd and, as a result,
a number of females and two stock bulls have been purchased. Heifers also came from noted breeders Camus-Huberson,
Lagautriere, Alrivie, Bernard and Benoit amongst others.
Our herd now numbers around forty breeding cows, with the majority of the
2007 Spring born crop of calves sired by Titan -
coming from the Patureau Herd - breeders of Requin (Bailea Herd), Saphir (Hafodlas Herd), Paul (Glangwen Herd), Rossignol and
Jacot, all excelling in breeding cattle with exceptional shape.
Other bulls used in the Herd are Victor-Ben, a son of Neptune - highest ranked bull in France for beef production in
2003. Our most recent purchase is Usant, bought in the Prestige VII Sale in France, full brother of the famous Nenuphar.
